We are eager to add an Emergency Preparedness Coordinator to our organization. If you consider yourself an energetic, fast paced and self-motivated emergency preparedness professional who is interested in aiding in the development and implementation of our National Emergency Preparedness Program (EPP), we want to hear from you!
The successful candidate will get involved with managing projects related to the EPP strategic goals and initiatives, including:
- Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the SCN Headquarters Emergency Preparedness Program.
- Implement and manage a mandatory staff training program.
- Coordinate with field operations staff to assist in administering and tracking required EPP deliverables.
- Assist in the support of field operations staff as it relates to the implementation and development of local emergency preparedness programs.
- Support the facilitation of exercises to include completing required documentation dictated by the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP).
- Utilize knowledge and expertise in emergency preparedness and incident management best practices to assist in completing special projects and deliverables.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emergency management best practices and threat patterns to inform emergency preparedness programs, policies, and procedures.
- Assist in incident response and activation periods, as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in emergency management, homeland security or a related field; Master's degree a plus. Equivalent experience will be considered.
- At least three years of experience in emergency management, sworn fire service or sworn law enforcement.
- Knowledge of and experience utilizing the Incident Command System (ICS), National Incident Management System (NIMS), crisis management, and incident management.
- Knowledge of and experience with implementation of the National Prevention Framework, National Protection Framework, National Mitigation Framework, National Response Framework, National Disaster Recovery Framework, and National Preparedness Goal.
- Knowledge of best practices related to prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery efforts for all types of hazards (natural, manmade, and technological).
- Experience conducting all-hazard risk assessments (i.e., THIRA, HVA, etc.) and leveraging results for emergency preparedness efforts.
- Experience with a formal planning process, including the federal plan development process and FEMA's 6 step planning process.
- Experience with emergency operations, continuity of operations, and continuity of government planning.
- Experience leading after-action reviews, developing after-action reports and improvement plans (AAR/IP), and tracking progress.
- Experience developing and conducting HSEEP-compliant exercises.
- Experience developing and implementing Integrated Preparedness Plans (IPPs).
- Ability to share and communicate ideas clearly, both orally and in writing, to multiple audiences in clear, concise language.
- Strong computer skills, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, and Salesforce.
- Ability to establish priorities, multitask, and complete objectives in a fast-paced and demanding work environment.
- Ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision and oversight.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to receive and process sensitive intelligence and information.
- Documented completion of ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800, and the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP)
PREFERRED:
- Illinois Professional Development Series (PDS), Illinois Professional Emergency Manager Certification (IPEM), Associate Emergency Manager (AEM), Certified Emergency Management (CEM), Master Exercise Practitioner (MEP), and/or other equivalent certifications in emergency management.
- Previous experience working with the faith-based community as it relates to emergency planning and management.
