We are Secure Community Network (SCN), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) serving as the official safety and security organization of the Jewish community in North America. Here at SCN, we deeply value the team of people that work diligently to commit their lives to action for a better tomorrow. We are excited to add a Development Manager to our organization. If you consider yourself an ambitious and self-motivated Development professional who can build and sustain fundraising efforts, we want to hear from you!

The successful candidate will enjoy building systems and processes that will provide the foundation for SCN's Financial Resource Development (FRD). The selected candidate will create the infrastructure for donor acknowledgement reports, donor tracking via Salesforce, donor analyses, respond to inbound requests, support donor stewardship efforts, and more. This is a tremendous opportunity for an experienced Development professional to create systems from the ground up.

The Development Manager will create and execute all operations related to best-practice fundraising. These include, processes, procedures, quality control, technical advancements, data management, and reporting-with the goal of strengthening organizational capacity to grow philanthropic revenue and deepen donor relationships. Creating and assuming day-to-day responsibility for gift acknowledgements is also a key responsibility. The selected candidate will coordinate with finance staff for records coordination and management. The Development Manager may support other staff with work planning and budgeting.

This newly created position reports to the Assistant Director. We prefer candidates to be located in the Chicago area. For the time being, this role will support the consulting team, with more staff to be added as the FRD department evolves over the coming years.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum three years of development/fundraising experience, including specific operations responsibility.
  • Broad knowledge of all facets of a development program.
  • In-depth knowledge of development/fundraising tracking systems, specifically Salesforce as well as research analytics and screening tools.
  • Skilled at establishing and cultivating strong relationships with peers, organizational leadership, and colleagues across different levels of the organization.
  • Comfortable managing-up (particularly senior management and board leadership).
  • Unwavering commitment to discretion in dealing with donor information.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Capacity to balance multiple and sometimes competing deadlines and to work productively and amicably in a fast-paced and motivated environment.
  • Independently motivated self-starter who is capable of working without close oversight, taking initiative, prioritizing, and multi-tasking with broad directive, but also a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and stakeholder/customer experience orientation.
